This series focused on various tools I use to keep track of the information in my life. Try them and see if they help you. PIM's and Where We Are Today - I have a love hate relationship with Personal Information Manager (PIM) software. On the one hand I find them really handy. Then I go through a period where I'm not at the computer every day and everything falls apart. In this little series I'll talk about a few PIM's I use - and the ones I avoid. PIMS Part II - Time & Chaos - So what do we use to keep information in? A little shareware application called Time & Chaos. I first downloaded and used this program when it was version 3.0. PIMS Part III - Time & Chaos II - Why we use Time & Chaos to keep my master phone book up to date. PIMs Part IV - Loose Text - All the PIM's I've tried have proven to be of limited use to me for storing loose slips of information. Those little tidbits that you might want someday. The problem is they aren't useful unless you can find them again. This issue I'll tell you about a solution I've used for years that solves the problem well. PIM's Part V - InfoSelect Part II - Last issue we took a quick look at InfoSelect 7. I told you how I use the program to store and retrieve thousands of bits of loose information. It saves me hours of time each week. How? By not breaking my train of thought every time I want to find something. This time we'll look at a few of the new features of version 7. |
