I first encountered Byrne's uncannily clever and spot-on sense of humor in his compilation "The Fifth and Far Finer Than the First Four 637 Best Things Anybody Ever Said" quotations compilation. "The Fifth..." is now out of print (I'll never part with my copy!), but his more recent book--reviewed here--is readily available. It makes for a great holiday gift; as you randomly thumb through it you'll get a guaranteed guffaw per page. Next thing you know, you're reading the thing from start to finish. It's handy for business or school use because it is a an excellent source for funny but also timely and timeless quotes. As Liz Smith said about its predecessor, "I don't know what quote addicts did before Byrne began collecting these things."
